我国中医认为,生病的原因除了体质的因素外，与于周围环境、饮食、疲劳、情绪有关系。

生病的三个因素：一是人体本身,中医主要重视精神层面，因此认为喜、怒、忧、思、悲、恐、惊其七情影响身体。二是指外界因素对身体的影响,主要是由于气候变化所引发的致病因素,分为风、寒、暑、湿、燥、火，这些被称为六邪，六邪是通过口鼻或皮肤影响人体，如果六邪强过人体免疫力的时候便会生病。第三种是分内因和外因情况,这指的是因为饮食不当、疲劳、性行为太多、外伤等生病因素。饮食显得尤为重要,吃的少偏食造成营养不良。吃的过多给内脏增加负担,损伤器官,肥胖乃百病之源。

六邪影响身体的气候变化。风邪因风或气而引起,如着凉引起头疼、发热、鼻塞、头晕、咳嗽、咽喉痛等。寒邪由寒而生，包括腹泻、尿频、寒性体质等,包括引起伤寒的热病。暑邪,由夏季的炎热引起，包括高烧、口干、困倦感、食欲不振。湿邪,因湿度高引起的，包括头或手脚、全身沉重、关节痛、口粘、便软等。燥邪由干燥引起，皮肤干燥、嘴或眼睛发干、大便干燥。火邪由高温引起，包括高烧、手足或面部发红发热、眼睛充血、咽喉发干、发汗过多、便秘等。
